Following the publication of this story, X owner Elon Musk reshared a screenshot of it, saying it’s “important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so!”

Thin-skinned Nazis don’t like being called Nazis for liking other Nazi content.

A few weeks ago, X’s director of engineering, Haofei Wang, said the upcoming change is meant to protect users’ public image — because “many people feel discouraged” to like “edgy” content.

That’s the fucking point, Wang. Nazis should be discouraged from liking other Nazi content. Society shouldn’t tolerate bigots, much less embolden them- the way you and your boss want to do.

Elon Musk trying to be “edgy” and just coming off like the most divorced man on Earth is pretty funny. I’m still not using Vichy Twitter but it is funny watching a grown ass, 52 year-old man try to be an edgelord.

Pays $40 billion to allow people to be shadow toxic. What an amazing innovator in our midsts. We’re all just so jealous we wish we could be so genius …

    Fucking moron.

“We’ve listened to our users who’ve voice concerns about being labeled ‘racist piece of shit’ merely for supporting tweets that suggest that other races are less human than white people. Today we’re doubling down on our own brand of ‘freedom of speech’ to mean ‘freedom from consequences’. From today forward, twitter users will be safe and comfortable voicing their (anonymous) support for the most disgusting racist, homophobic, or misogynistic tweets imaginable.” -Twitter PR probably

No no no. It’s not like that! Twitter doesn’t have a PR team. They were fired 2 years ago. Along with tech support. Plus twitter doesn’t exist. Only X which continues to bring the worst ideas forward to make the world full of shit.

His reasoning for wanting to do this is so bad and clearly a racist dog whistle; everyone should be able to like things that they would be ashamed to like publicly with their name attached!

Oh my god, he’s trying to make it Reddit.

Every time I think wtf is he doing, I remember about this theory he is destroying twitter on purpose, because it was a network with to much influence for example the arab spring.

I think the count still shows, just not named. Musk think people are afraid to like the stuff he likes (far right BS)

So, first you organize posts by like count for signed out users, and now you’re hiding the like count altogether? Now how are you gonna organize posts now?

The funny thing is, it’s not actually hidden if you know how to see them. Just throw “/likes” after a profile. They only hid the fucking button.

Hey Elon, wouldn’t it be better for us all to not only show the likes but show the dislikes too? Even on your account.

He has a point though. Just think of Reddit and Lemmy where people mindlessly hive-mind vote some posts. When you see something massively upvoted, you tend to upvote (immediately). Same goes for downvotes. In contrary, if the votes do no show, you only vote when you actually mean it.
