I actually have wanted to try this out to see how accurate it can actually be. I already have conversations with myself, so I can truly compare the reality to a LLM. It’s actually weird that even the supposed “unlocked and able to generate anything from anything” tools I’ve found still don’t let you just input direct forum posts and shit to use. Though, I can totally understand why; most people probably aren’t gonna use it with their own shit, but someone else’s.

If I wasn’t on Lemmy, I wouldn’t even know about Mastodon. It’s not really something you hear of outside of the fediverse, in my experience. Meanwhile, BlueSky is gaining traction and talked about everywhere. Most people don’t care that it’s not exactly decentralized. Most of the things the users on the fediverse care about are not things the average, not-very-tech-saavy person cares about.

I noticed it a while back on my previous phone before it was fully rolled out everywhere and people just said I was imagining it. Half the time, I have to just turn RCS off to get my messages to actually send or to receive.

And what’s to stop it from continuing to monopolize search engine usage just because it’ll be owned by another company? Wouldn’t whoever purchases it just continue operating it the same way, banking on the name recognition?
