You don’t need to run Plex through a VPN just any torrent clients.

When this was posted last week, I mentioned that it was odd that all the most deadliest models on the list were all low production cars, meaning there might be something wonky with their methodology.

There was a similar “study” done a year or so ago where they simply looked at car insurance applications and used people’s accident history and whatever vehicle they were trying to insure at the time to generate a list of which models had the “most accidents” in an incredibly flawed manor (Pontiac and Oldsmobile were among the safest even though neither company exists anymore).

Trying to force people to use a cloud account just to get functionality of the piece of hardware they already paid for with no technical reason behind it whatsoever is ludicrous.

There is a technical reason behind it which is integration with MakerWorld and being able to browse files from there and send them to the printer remotely from your phone or other device along with being able to watch a live feed of your print and control the printer.

Again, I won’t argue against the whole privacy aspect as I get it, but I just don’t really think it’s a big deal or something of consequence if we’re simply talking about 3D prints. They do have the option to use them locally now, but apparently this doesn’t include all their models (which you may have mentioned already or it was someone else).

“Deepfakes” are edited pictures of real people. I’d be more inclined to agree with you on completely AI generated images but not something specifically intended to deceive others into thinking they’re viewing a real person’s image.

There’s nothing to say that they can’t prevent your slicer from slicing some object the CCP has deemed should not be printed, or remotely brick your printer, or just simply refuse to allow their slicer software to connect to it anymore.

Seems like it’s at least somewhat related to being a Chinese company since you’re mentioning the CCP. I won’t argue that these aren’t things to be conscious of, but I think these fears seem overblown.

I do support open source projects, but I don’t feel like they really enabled me to do anything I can’t do now with the X1C in the 3.5 years of printing prior to owning this thing and the performance/experience has been so much better.

Qidi is also a Chinese company so what’s the difference? Most printers come from Chinese companies outside of companies like Prusa.

I think it’s honestly a bit embarrassing after reading through this. It states that their “main engineering focus when designing this” was “the exoskeleton, a small chamber, and a platform for the future.” The exoskeleton is just a rectangular frame that nobody is going to give a shit about while printing and the small chamber means a small build plate along with it.

The main feature they seem to be hyping up is the fact that it has a vent in the body so that you don’t have to crack the door open. This does feel a bit lame with the Bambu, but not anything I really care about at the end of the day.

I’ve said it before that I do like Prusa represents as a company, but they’re really behind the ball at this price point.

AFAIK x265 encoder support has always been flaky with AMD GPUs. I used to get constant stuttering when trying to playback HEVC files with my old RX570 before switching to a 1080TI. I think Nvidia or Intel is your best bet for this.

I had a similar issue and it was a bad stepper motor. The bearings on these are just wide open and a bunch of filament dust had worked it’s way into them. Turning the motor shaft by hand you could feel it get tight at certain points in the rotation. I just swapped in a new motor but you may be able to clean it out if you want to save the $9.

This is a weird setting that must be in some brand new release because I’ve been using WLED for years and it’s always just been a current limiter for the entire strip. Perhaps it has something to do with OP using COB lights as I’ve only ever used it for standard strip lights like 5050 WS2812B or 5050 WS2815.

Yes that’s correct. Same goes for the normal WS2811 strip lights which are addressable every 3 LEDs.

It’s interesting to hear that there is a new style as I’ve done several prints using the old style and it’s so lame that it only works for a few minutes after being exposed directly to bright light especially with how rough it is on the machine. It wore a groove through the hotend on my old Sidewinder X2 after using about a Kg to print a giant Lego skeleton.

Hang on, give me a few minutes to craft an excuse for why that shouldn’t be considered comparable.

This is a shared workstation PC at my job so I’ll have to just continue to deal with it.

I’ve had nothing but issues with it since their “upgrade” over the last year or so. It keeps cycling between the new and old versions when I open it, it often closes itself on my PC, and every time I try to pin it to my Taskbar it disappears.
