Conservatives just want to feel good about themselves by value of their race, gender, and nationality. They see shared myths valorizing these aspects as incredibly comforting and valuable.
They hate and despise people on the left who shatter these myths. To them, people on the left are diminishing not just men, white people, and Americans as a whole - but they themselves personally.

They support free speech for their ideas, but have no issue shutting down “woke” leftists because “think of the children.” They support riots that seek to overturn an election they lost, but love it when the police crack BLM skulls.
