Hi. Normally , I enjoy the original (or at least lesser-known) memes on here.
Lately however, I’ve noticed that despite the anti-repost rule on here, way too many posts recently have been reposts; many of them very well might literally appear in the first results of an image search for “[insert series] memes”.
Personally, I feel that the purpose of any Trek meme community should primarily be to explore strange new memes; while occasionally reposts commemorating seasonal events (as well as the occasional tastefully-timed time loop meme) are acceptable, I think they should never dominate this community. I am hoping we can reduce that frequency and return to our primary mission.
Thank you for your time in listening to my concerns. Glory to you and your house.
There’s no “anti reposts” rule, but rather a request to refrain from reposts under 1-2 months. I recall one about a week ago that was within the same day, but it was noticed and removed. The time loops, while similar, were by and large unique to each other.
Personally, I attempt to stick to OC, with maybe a handful of articles, existing gifs, and 1 Texts from TNG (though that one was back in Risa).
Some posts from the reddit days crop up and do well for a reason: they’re funny and encourage discussion. That said, I’d wager this community has generated more OC than what you’ll find in either major Star Wars or LOTR pages.
You’re a top tier OC maker.
Occasionally, while not logged in, I come across a post in this community from one of the notorious accounts that I have blocked, and do get frustrated by their persistent reposts, but as you say, they are more than 1-2 months out.
