People play roles every day. Its even in the job description. A role.
If you would take 100 humans from an ordinary office environment and put them on a desert Island without leaders, you would see who is the real leader that people want to follow, and who has lots of skills we never knew about, and who has strength of character and wisdom and who doesnt…
So whatever we think about “the world” is just illusion. We mostly see people play roles because they need to pay bills to eat food.
If you put 100 people on a desert island, they would die, because it’s a desert. Either way, even if its a forested island with a central lagoon, the people are still playing a role - survival.
Put them in a post scarcity community, and they would play yet another role, but with far less egoism I’d expect.
