A few of my favorite lines from customers who seemed to be trying to project sophisticated knowledge when I served at a craft beer bar:

“I mostly like ales and lagers”

“What do you have that’s between Yuengling and Delirium Tremens?”

“I like IPAs but nothing really hoppy”

I learned a lot about beer, took lots of samples every shift so I got to try a pretty wide variety, which was cool. It was a pretty popular restaurant too, so it’s not like the customers were only craft beer snobs. Like every customer service job typically a mix.

Outside the typical insatiable Karens, the most annoying were probably the guys being very picky to try to show off their beer knowledge, when in fact they know very little. The ones who confidently asked lots of sophisticated sounding questions and wanted to try lots of samples during the rush, only to go with the first beer I recommended.
