Seriously. It’s peak reddit behavior. Part of what made lemmy feel like such a breath of fresh air when I migrated was the distinct lack of karma-farm-esque posts. I’m unfortunately speaking in the past tense now.

DeceasedPassenger@lemmy.worldto Windows@sopuli.xyz•You can now format text in Windows 11's Notepad7·8 hours agoIt’s interesting how similar patterns arise in different areas of capitalism. For instance, cars. A Toyota Rav4 used to be significantly smaller and less complex. As time went on, features were added and mission creep took effect. Same with countless other models throughout the decades. And same with notepad here. More bloated and complex, jack of all trades and master of none. Erasing distinctions between toolsets, ultimate convenience with everything at your fingertips, etc etc. Convenience at the price of a logical workflow, with no thought given as to why the tools were in different places to begin with. It’s like the ultimate purpose of capitalism is to increase entropy to maximum.

However I will say that paying an “all-inclusive” price and then still having to pay for fresh water would really grind my gears.

DeceasedPassenger@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What could I have done to prevent myself from being fired?5·4 days agoI have been in a similar position and will vouch this is solid advice. Best to build some kind of rapport over time when computers/working in IT is involved. Some people know extremely little about it, and some people are quite afraid of what they don’t know. The best way to overcome that fear is understanding, simply having a decent trust for you as a person probably won’t suffice.
Edit just to say I nearly teared up reading your post, I really feel for your experience. Remembering tomorrow is a new day always helped me when things were worst. I bid you success in all you try.

If I find myself feeling upset/disagreeing with someone, I try to imagine myself in their shoes, and/or assume that I’m either misunderstanding or being misunderstood, which can be calmly resolved.
I have not eaten breakfast today but will probably have malt-o-meal which is a wheat breakfast like grits, I love it because I am particular about food textures, can’t stand the feel of soft/soupy things so I like to make mine extra thicc and add brown sugar+cinnamon+pecans. Later today I will start a large meal prep of some marinated tofu, i got all my favorite ingredients (mirin, fresh ginger+garlic, hoisin sauce) so I’m pretty excited for that :)
I want to be a cybersecurity analyst focused on AI because I think it’s massively dangerous in all the obvious ways, but new threat vectors are constantly evolving, and too many people are being hurt (one is too many). I want to stop AI from hurting more people, and there’s no realistic way to close Pandora’s Box.
That segues well into the next thing because I would like to be known someday for my fight against AI. I will fight until the technology is globally regulated enough to keep humanity safe, as long as I live. I think my words could maybe inspire people if I wasn’t so hopelessly awkward irl. I consider myself to be well-spoken but only with individuals or small groups, and only as a result of having extrrrrrrrreme anxiety relating to being misunderstood lmao
I think the most important thing is empathy and seeing other humans as a reflection of one’s self. We are all waves from the same ocean; rising, cresting, crashing. Hurt people hurt people, and when I see someone acting in a way I find distasteful I try to remember to ask myself what could make me act like that, and if I come up with “nothing” then I have to think harder (I made a comment a little while ago calling someone a sociopath because their comment was upsetting, but using that word myself made me feel bad so every once in a while I go to their profile and leave upvotes on nice things they said because I feel a need to see the good in people). Sometimes people experience trauma that leads them to have a warped worldview, and we are all walking our own path.
I don’t really care about celebrities and that culture of award shows and such. I have many favorites when it comes to different forms of art, and yes some are popular to a degree but most of them are unrecognized by such organizations. It’s just a popularity contest, and I decided as a kid that popularity has near-zero bearing on how I experience quality in the context of art. My youtube algorithm regularly serves me recommendations of new channels with less than 10k subs, which I find to be the sweet spot for finding a channel to watch grow. There’s something incredibly satisfying to me about watching someone’s art and technique grow and evolve as the years pass.
I really care about empathy and love, and I’m getting the feeling that’s pretty unpopular these days, more so than people think. Even people who are outwardly full of love can sometimes have so much hate inside when I don’t expect it. Not hate for me, hate for others, but hate all the same… It’s scary and v uncomf for me and I just want everyone to try to understand each other more. That’s why I’m replying in the first place because I love the vibe your post puts out. Thank you for being your inspiring self smorty <3
A mid point between pancake and crepe sounds delicious and I’m going to look that up now, I’ve never heard of a pfannkuchen. I love making new (to me) foods :)

They are hollow, only a couple millimeters thick. They melt in less than a minute.
The deletion is absolute (all atoms, creates a true void), and infinite in size vertically. Your first use of this power results in massive tectonic shifts and (admittedly low-key) global chaos.
Everyone within 100 meters feels an urge to look in your direction as soon as you think about using your power.

DeceasedPassenger@lemmy.worldto PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world•Your guide to a new Email Service (Reworked)1·9 days agoThat’s the inference I made. I should’ve been more clear. I was providing feedback on the clarity of information presented. I would make the edits myself, but am unskilled with editing software, and a simple white-out would look pretty jarring given the positioning. The message (no profit sharing email provider) is still communicated, but sloppily.
DeceasedPassenger@lemmy.worldto PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world•Your guide to a new Email Service (Reworked)4·10 days agoProfit share is in the introductory paragraph, and the key, but is not present on any of the email providers. This makes the guide feel unreliable/poorly made. If it’s present to be used in a future version, or referential to other guides, that should be noted to avoid confusion. The purpose of including “Profit share” is unclear.
DeceasedPassenger@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When will you "quit" the internet?3·12 days agoSo yes, the landscape is changing drastically. As it has done before. I believe it’s possible for us to adapt when that happens, as we have before. We’re not yet at the point you describe so I couldn’t say how it’ll happen. But I have a blind faith that it’s at least possible for us. This doesn’t mean we should relax and wait for it to happen, but I would rather think about solutions than “oh no we’re fucked nooo”.
I thought I was going insane before I knew what was happening. It feels like there’s something I should be noticing that I’m not. And whatever that thing is, man is it ever important to the brain. Even though it won’t tell me what the thing is. Alright then, keep your secrets.
