Out of curiosity, when did they show that? Every interaction with demons I remember from it they are shown to be manipulating people at best.

The “Diplomatic Envoys” were literally trying to figure out the town’s barrier so their master could come in and slaughter them.

The “little girl” in the flashback with Himmel outright says that she called out for her “Mommy” despite demons literally abandoning their young once they’re born because “that word stops humans” and nothing more.

Like yeah it’s inherently difficult writing something that looks human as actually an irredeemable monster that the only solution is destruction because dehumanizing vulnerable groups is pretty much always the first step in real life genocides. But I don’t recall any instances of demons in Frieren actually showing “humanity” for any other reason than to manipulate and kill humans.

People: “We’re tired of all these ‘misunderstood villains’ we want unapologetically evil for the sake of evil.”

Frieren: “Okay here’s monsters that learned to imitate human language and emotion solely to manipulate and kill humans.”

The same people: “No! You’re wrong! They’re just misunderstood and you’re doing a genocide!”

Yeah, any media that depicts something human like being an irredeemable monster that the only solution is destruction is inherently tricky because dehumanizing is pretty much always the first step in mass atrocities irl. But my God I’ve seen so many people tie themselves in knots trying to give the benefit of the doubt to demons in Frieren.

  • Exactly! It’s almost like stuff like this is actually pretty great when it’s a tool for the artist rather than an attempt to replace them. The accessibility angle would be amazing… If only it wasn’t powered by the damn Orphan Crushing Machine and didn’t need to steal all of the art/literature/whatever other data the corps can get their grubby little mitts on in order to train the models.

But that’s the entire point. They want to pay for a machine they can write off as an equipment investment rather than a team of competent and well paid human artists. Even better if they don’t even need some comparatively low wage “Prompt Engineer” to run the damn thing.

I hate the accessibility argument because it’s so disingenuous. Yes, technically if I used these models it would have allowed me to keep making art when my wrists were in such pain I couldn’t use my stylus for longer than 30 seconds. But the problems with AI way outweigh that potential good.

That’s usually why these kinds of people like AI. They are utterly lacking in creativity. The accessibility argument is such bullshit too. Yes, if we ignore the glaring theft issues with training these models, then in a certain sense it would’ve allowed someone like me to continue making art when my wrists were in such excruciating pain that I couldn’t even hold my stylus. But that’s not why these chuds like AI.

They like AI because they hate art and they hate artists. They hate artists because artists have those skills and they don’t. So they want to automate them out of existence. They want to make those skills that make them feel inferior worthless.

  • As far as I’ve seen their argument is usually something along the lines of “The West is so antagonistic, of course they have to cozy up to Russia. They’re pretty much the only country not trying to destroy them.”

It’s all bullshit of course. In reality it’s almost always just Campism. North Korea opposes the Great SatanUS therefore they must be good. Any evil they’ve done has to be actually our fault and not any kind of evil or corruption from them.

Notice how the lines the 7/10" is attached to go from one side of the miniature globe to the other? This indicates that measurement is meant to be a diameter. Looking back at the paragraph before he talks about 0.35" being Earth’s Schwarzschild Radius. Radius is half of diameter so doubling that radius you get 0.7 or 7/10" across at which the Earth would become a black hole.

That’s what that mini diagram is showing.

  • It’s never been more true.

There are only two sexualities, Straight and Woke.
There are only two ethnicities, White and Woke.
There are only two genders, Male and Woke.

It would almost be amusing how baby-brained these chuds’ understanding of the world is were it not for the massive amount of harm they cause. Like how every accusation is a confession so it takes very little thought to work out what they think from what they accuse others of.

"They just say everything they don't like is Hitler." = Everything I don't like is Woke.
"Trans people are going to attack cis women in the restroom." = That's what I'd do with unrestricted access to the women's restroom.
And on, and on, and on...

It appears to be called Takopi from the manga Takopi’s Original Sin. I see a book for it and the first things I notice are the tagline “Time travel can’t heal all wounds,” and that it’s listed in the dystopian, horror, and sci-fi lists. Okay yeah I feel like I’ve got a pretty good grasp of what goes on here.

  • Don’t know how to tell you this, but I think that means your boyfriend is actually a woman. I don’t make the rules, sorry.

I joke. In all seriousness though, you can be straight and have a dynamic that’s more typically seen in Yuri manga. My partner and I joke all the time that we’re so straight it looped all the way back around to being gay again. We’re technically “straight” too, but I’m asexual and nonbinary, while she’s gay as the day is long. I can’t tell you how many Yuri memes I’ve sent her with the caption “look, it us” because it’s absolutely something one of us would have done.
