And when you do, you rattle the bells inside so it makes a ding.

Is better than
void main() { //code }
Why would you want to put it on a separate line? Are you paid by the height of the source file or something?
HiddenLayer555@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People who live in touristic areas, what are the rudest behaviours you've seen among tourists?English4·5 days agoI live in Vancouver and we’ve had massive issues with people (both tourists and locals) feeding coyotes in our downtown park. It got bad enough that they had to euthanize a bunch of coyotes because they were habituated to humans and have even attacked some people. They’re not puppers, they’re wild animals that play an important role in the ecosystem. You do them literally no favours by feeding them. Also, even worse, feeding bears.

I hate it when China and North Korea kill numbers. Like I’m just trying to count stuff here and you’re telling me that 9 is dead?
Obviously it’s because China and North Korea, being totalitarian dictatorships, have made suicide illegal and punishable by death!
(I have literally met someone who thought that suicide is punishable by death in China. Like if you try to kill yourself and survive they’ll finish the job for you.)
HiddenLayer555@lemmy.mlto Memes@lemmy.ml•In America, the rich controls the government. In China, the government controls the rich.English18·3 months agoChina has a really high population so the total count numbers are going to seem high.
The second column tells you that it’s a whopping 0.6% of China’s population while every other country is between 2.7% and 8.5%. Guess which country is the 8.5%
I know I’m reading too much into this meme but just houses is not enough. There also needs to be easily accessible and comprehensive mental health/addiction treatment because those are pretty big contributors to homelessness, and especially housed people becoming homeless. From reading some of the accounts from the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver for example, people actively looking to get clean are being told to wait months before treatment is available, and people routinely overdose and die while on waitlists for rehab.
And if we take yet another step back, the even more important step is to address what exactly causes people to fall into addiction in the first place. A lot of the time that cause is related to the exploitative and soul crushing existence under capitalism.

In China, the government controls the rich.English66·3 months agoJust the fact that financial crimes over a certain amount are punishable by death in China (and people have actually been executed for them) says a lot. It’s a law that literally applies only to the rich because a normal person would never even get to glimpse the amount of money required for execution to be on the table.

Couldn’t you get more energy density with compressed air? That way the entire volume of your warehouse is storing energy at the same time.
