If I’m US based

Assuming you are then you should be looking for a USD ETF. The ETF itself doesn’t have to be investing in U.S. based companies (and in fact there are many, many USD ETFs focused outside the US).

Keep in mind those are indexes, not ETFs. You are going to want to look for an ETF that is following the particular index(s) you are looking at. So for example the second index you mentioned does list one ETF that is following that index, see the main page for that index and click “Index-Linked ETPs”

The only ETF listed there is a EUR ETF, there may be no USD ETFs following that index. Your next step is trying to find a brokerage in the U.S. that allows you to invest in that ETF… Thing is, those brokerages will sell you access to invest in USD ETFs, not EUR. A ETF for EUR markets is primarily going to be offered in countries that trade in EUR.

Main point: Tons of indexes exist for different purposes but that doesn’t mean that ETFs exist that follow those indexes, let alone USD ETFs. For your purposes sure you can look at any indexes you are interested in just remember you’d still need to find a corresponding USD ETF that is following the index.

SRI ETF = social responsible index exchange trade fund

You may already know this, just keep in mind these indexes that measure “SRI”, or climate change, or concepts like that will measure this stuff in different ways that people don’t always agree with. For example the MSCI World SRI Index you linked has TESLA as one of its top investments, many would argue that Tesla/Elon Musk are not compatible with the idea of SRI.

That’s a good tip, it’s a good idea to subscribe to a Lemmy instance that participates in Fediseer (IMO). It helps to keep spammy instances off your own instance hence lower spam posts overall.

A lot of spammers tend to spin up their own Lemmy instances just to spam the rest of the Fediverse, or they’ll create a ton of new accounts on an instance with lax admin/moderation to use for spam later.

You don’t even need to browse the Fediseer website directly, pretty much all Lemmy instances participating in Fediseer will have the “Guarantor” and “Endorsements” links in the sidebar of their homepage.

Later on when you successfully sign up on a different Lemmy instance just go into your new user’s profile settings again (exactly how you just did for https://lemm.ee/settings but it’ll be [YOUR-NEW-LEMMY-INSTANCE]/settings, in there under “Import/Export Settings” look for the Import section and there you can import the file you just exported.

Kind of like that it’s a bit slippery, makes it easy to slide into my pocket. A case would just feel too bulky and and would need more force to get in/out of my jean pockets (IMO).

Regrettably, despite having a case, I managed to crack the screen anyway. It fell face down onto a pointy rock. My first broken screen, ever.

Oof yeah I sympathize :) My previous Pixel had a screen protector on it and I still managed to crack the screen by dropping the phone on a corner and getting a nice little corner crack. After that I figured why keep bothering with these protectors haha.

But in case it is helpful my own phone (Pixel 7) has no case/screen protector. Also my phone has cracks on the back and one corner so this tracks :P (but otherwise it has held up quite well)

May be overthinking it a bit, the typical opportunistic thief that would try to snatch a phone and run is just looking to see what bank apps you have installed. Usually they are looking to see if you have something like Venmo installed so they can go into your app and send themselves your money. Venmo of course will say that money was transferred from your phone so it was clearly you and there’s nothing to dispute, hence you’re fucked.

These type of thieves already know to try to keep the screen unlocked long enough to do that, afterwards they usually just toss the phone somewhere. The phone hardware itself isn’t that useful while it’s still locked down and tied to someone’s Google/Apple account, most phones are firmware locked in that fashion. Sure they could wait it out until you finally remove the phone from your Google/Apple account but every time they check it’ll keep giving out their location, not really worth it.

Nowadays current Android phones do have theft protection to prevent loss in a snatch attempt e.g. my Android has settings to auto lock it if it detects fast movement while unlocked, and it also auto locks if the entire phone itself has been set offline/airplane mode for a while.

Almost never, maybe once a year if that.

But I do consistently drop brand new phones within the first 3 months of owning it. Usually on concrete. Not intentionally of course… yet for some reason it’s happened to me every single time.

Opt-in might work. But thinking more about it, not sure if it would be too much of a headache to manage… I’d think you may end up having to moderate what actually shows up publicly on the site else you end up with the sorts of questions/answers that the other commenter mentioned.

So does it ever tell you what the jury verdict is? I’ve done like 12 answers and there’s no visible confirmation that there were other people answering the same question let alone what the final verdict was. Kind of kills the vibe, was hoping I’d at least see what the other random anonymous jurors responded to the same question(s).

Also would be more interesting if the site would publicly show the questions/verdicts as they come in. (assuming the person submitting the question is okay with it showing up publicly on the site)

Not a part of either community but I’d guess russian would be easier, assuming you’ve actually spent time to immerse yourself in russian culture/language/etc. Then again if you grew up with the general american upbringing and culture you may as well hang out with whoever you want, there’s no need to specifically search out a group of people if your life has been american culture up to now.

For what it’s worth back in my college days my old roommate was half black half korean. He really, really wanted to blend in with the koreans and other asians at the school but truth is most of the foreign students tended to avoid him. The asians that did hang around with him were the type that wanted to meet and hang out with americans and weren’t being picky about culture and whatnot.

The (now divorced) couple do have 2 kids so those genes will continue existing well into the future.

Not really, sorry. My understanding is that most people get rejected when applying for SSDI, the approval rates are quite low across the country. Maybe it’s easier in some states not too sure how or why that is.

In the U.S. it seems easier to go on disability when you’re a police officer or firefighter, I’ve run into those types of people on “disability” while still going out and partying in the local bars. But I think for them the disability pension is paid through the state and/or their union.

Hopefully someone actually receiving SSDI can comment/answer on your topic, they would know more about the exact process.

Register and log into your social security account at https://www.ssa.gov/, it tells you how many work credits you have. Or barring that you could go to your nearest SSA office or try calling Social Security to request that info. Though TBH with all the recent cutbacks/layoffs I’m not too sure how easily you can get help from anyone at the SSA.

EDIT: When you log into your account at ssa.gov it also tells you if you are eligible to apply for disability benefits (and can apply through there).

Like the other commenter I pronounce it sen-tor. Just like the word “dinosaur” I would pronounce die-no-sor if that makes sense. Both words end in “aur”.
