I like how the article has several links to things it mentions, but doesn’t link to Have I Been Pwned at all even though that’s the key site of the whole thing and where the reader should go to see if they’re affected. Well done, article.

Is there a way to add the udm=14 trick to the !g bang on DDG?
I’ve got some chores that need to get done, how much can I rent your guys for?
Easy fix:
“Sorry, we no longer offer a T-Mobile ONE plan, therefore your plan has been converted to a regular T-Mobile plan. If you object to this you may terminate your account.”
“Due to increased costs and a whole bunch of reasons that has absolutely nothing to do with our greed we will have to raise the price of our regular plan.”
I know I’m old school and all that, but why do people want to pay for automatically closing doors of any kind? Automatic opening of cargo spaces I get, if you have your bags full of hands or whatever, but once you put the stuff in there… Seem like such an incredibly unnecessary and costly feature, that also have a high chance of failing in the future. I don’t get it.
Yeah that’s great. I only struggle with how to split the hardware up between Linux and Windows, because I’d have to do most (but not all) of the demanding work in Windows, but that’s only a fraction of the time, so then that hardware will be unusable the rest of the time when I’m just using Linux. Ah well, I’ll figure something out, and I’d rather take unaccessible hardware 95% of the time than running Windows all the time.
Yeah it will drive up cost, because all my future machines will have to be specced to be able to run Linux and Windows (in a KVM in Linux) properly at the same time with good performance.
This is great, because I usually pause videos because I want to watch ads.
I mean tracking exists because advertisers pay more for targeted ads, based on the tracking. I’d rather prefer it if the EU just made tracking illegal. Deal with the problem at its root.
Also maybe ban ads that track clicking on them (to then give a bigger payout). Advertisers should pay for simply showing me the ad and putting their brand/product in my brain.
And if we remove the option for targeted ads based on user tracking, the price for plain and simple old school ads might rise again, which is a very good thing for websites and users.
If you read my comment again you might realize it’s a joke about TikTok being trash.
Indeed. However, they have that web DRM thing in their back pocket. The more we resist (as we should) their efforts to shut ad circumvention down, the more they’ll look at web DRM I’m sure. And they’ll have all large media outlets with them when they load that ball into the cannon.
The issue is there are profits left on the table! Unacceptable!
Yo TikTok with a latency higher than 2 ms is completely unusable trash!
Or under 2 ms.
Oh I use a VPN 24/7 and wouldn’t have it any other way (even though I also don’t think it’s strictly necessary), but I already have a provider that I trust, is fast and cost only like <$3/month I think.
I’m thinking of trying Proton Pass for free which I think you can do, but the main attraction is to get away from the Google suite and incorporate a more privacy focused one. Having a calendar, generating unlimited email aliases to store in the password manager etc.
Go have some lördagsplopp!
Yeah there are many great things about Proton. It’s just so damn expensive. Had it been like $7 per month (charged monthly) I’d already been a customer. I’m guessing the VPN carries the highest cost for Proton, so it’d be nice to have the option for the whole suite except the VPN.
Self hosting email has been a hard no for way over a decade at this point, maybe two. It’s a terrible idea.
Just a VPN. Thinking about trying out Proton’s suite and maybe pay for that if it’s worth it. Otherwise I’m more and more leaning on OSS and self hosted things these days because corporations have shown themselves not to be trusted with anything important.
Isn’t that kind of what the AdNauseam addon does?
Yes sadly this means emergency services will no longer be able to take your call because they got rid of their phones. If you really want to talk you’ll have to book a Zoom appointment, so schedule your stabbings ahead of time.
