Experimental musician. https://odysee.com/@thetiredhorizon:f https://thetiredhorizon.bandcamp.com/ …also the usual Soundcloud, evil-Spotify and Apple… on Mastodon…
I suppose I’m a “content creator”. I write music.
I WISH all my recording gear was free. Fucking hell. The amount of money I’ve wasted in the last 30 years… sheesh.
Who have stolen land, drilled under people’s own land to access their oil, drilled into other countries without permission (eg Russian firms). They’ve also hidden data about environmental damage since the 1960s including CO2 evidence. Worse than tobacco.
Yeah there are problems with battery and EV materials and their links to all kinds of nasty things. However, lets not forget how bad other industries have been (even recently) for slavery… the cotton industry, the soft drinks indusrty, even the plastics recycling industry.
And OK, lithium is a problem, but there are other ways to store energy that arent being used. We need to stop expecting a perfect solution to everything and just start using sand batteries, compressed air etc, things where we do already have engineers that can accomplish something.
The Far Side also did a comic on this where the old gal was stuffing her turkey (with sage). 😂
That makes me sick!! 😠
Google Play and co are allowing similar apps
Big business has shown its power in that very way with the carbon credits. This proves they have the power and the manpower to implement actual positive environmental change.
Changing policy is actually pretty easy. Sure there are probably laws and regulations that need to be taken into account, but employing the right people to look into it can save huge amounts off their budget after only a few months. To me it shows poor leadership at the top that they dont.
It was mostly quicker on my pushbike too. I wasnt having to keep swerving and braking for idiots. Though I did get chased 3 times, by special kinds of idiots (one in a dinosaur suit ffs).
The only inconsistent thing is how much worse we find out it is as new studies come out.
If offices REALLY want their workers in their buildings they’ve known for years that they have the options of using the real estate of the surface area* on the building itself to place solar and offset their demand massively. They can also incentivise massively to help their workers use electric vehicles - no not cars but ebikes, scooters and electric motorcycles and provide secure parking and charging. For those that use these, give them a bonus, buy the bike for them. Bikes free up staff parking to be used for other things.
*the sides of the building can also be used to hang panels, so if the roof is occupied with air con systems etc you still get power. There is usually just a 10% drop off in daily power generation, too, but an advantage is both that the panel cools more effectively in this position, and it also cools the building passively by shading the sun.
Well I guess its done its job for the US Government. Funding has obviously stopped.
Kind of wish USB has securing screws sometimes …the amount of times I’ve accidentally caught a cable and yanked one out (oo-er)
Laws against threats to kill, rape and assault tend to be pretty constant across the world… 🤷♂️
I gave up reporting on major sites where I saw abuse. Stuff that if you said that in public, also witnessed by others, you’ve be investigated. Twitter was also bad for responding to reports with “this doesnt break our rules” when a) it clearly did and b) probably a few laws.
I run a fridge freezer off a Delta Pro and 600w of solar during the summer. If we get a few days spell of bad weather I have to place it back on mains. Its good to have in an emergency, though it cost me 3 months wages (plus overtime)
^THIS^
Plus to add that modern kitchen stuff like that will throw on the compressor to cool the unit down with up to a surge of 1200w. Usually for 2-3 minutes as it engages the cooling pumps and moves the refrigerant.
I’ve run fridge freezer units off battery a few times (deep cycle lead acid, lithium/LFP)
I took the ads out because even though it isnt a career (music is a serious hobby, you might say) there was push back against putting your own music on the platform. “No self promotion” was a general rule iirc. A few subs kind of let it happen but they were rare.
The dashboard was indeed shit. It had all the wrong details and choices for someone like me.
I would have done an AMA but I’m just a bloke, LOL! And yes I agree - the users are anti-ad. Not sure how a site like that floats, financially. Can only imagine there is corp or Government money secretly going in (as we found out years after Google started up).
Oh dont I know it.
