  • I have a Voron 2.4 right now, and had a Prusa MK3 before that.

It remains to be seen what additional work the kit amounts to. The Prusa XL can be assembled within a few hours while the Prusa MK3 is a day project and the Voron is a multi day project, not even including the time needed to research the different Voron kits.

Assuming it does not lack in features or quality, I think the price for the kit is fair since it includes the full Prusa support, next day shipping for replacement parts and it is made in the EU. The Voron with its flying gantry is dope, but I do sometimes miss being able to just write Prusa about an issue and get replacement parts under warranty in 2-3 days.

  • Is that actually an UPS or just a backup battery? Can it passthrough the line power directly or does the inverter need to run 24/7?

In the latter case you might want to check how much power the inverter eats just by itself. For example, my Bluetti with 2 kWh needs a whopping 50W in idle just to keep the AC ports powered. Of course your unit looks much smaller so it should be way less but still worth measuring.

    • OPNsense DEC740
    • Unifi Switch 24

    • DIY DAS in an old server case with 18 3.5" bays

Not in picture: My UPSes, RIPE Atlas probe and an Odroid N2+ running my Home Assistant instance

The server runs Proxmox with a bunch of LXC containers running a Docker Swarm cluster.

There’s too many services running so I’m not listing them all. Let’s just say my phone is not going to be thrilled if it goes down. Also, this post was posted through said server.

  • My favorite was I tried to submit to Jellyfin a fix for one of their very opaque exceptions, keep the stack trace but rewrite the error message like “x exception occurred, do you have permissions to do that?” Or something and the PR was rejected. I just can’t even with that

Out of interest, which PR was that?

It’s uncommon to rewrite exception messages to be user friendly, they are for developers. The exception shouldn’t be thrown in the first place if it’s a common issue or the error message should be more generic for unhandled problems.
