Google Music did this back in the day, I lost versions of tracks that I couldn’t find anywhere again, infuriating.
Facebook and others actively promote harmful content because they know it drives interactions, I believe it’s possible to punish corps without making the internet overly policed.
“I want to eradicate non-whites and install a christo-fascist dictator” is as obnoxious as “all people deserve housing and healthcare and a system based on extracting all excess profit from workers is exploitation”
To be fair they do say they “need to be” transparent, not that they were going to be :p
There are crypto ads involved in the product though? Fuck that, even if it was default off
They can buy whatever they want haha I didn’t say I care, I was just saying the article title could be accurate, people spend money without knowing much about the purchase all the time.
Many average consumers probably don’t specifically know what ‘spatial’ means, or what defines a computer vs a phone or whatever. People with too much money do spend 3500 carelessly, I have known a few of the types, and for the latest Apple technology I could see plenty of people buying it without even knowing what it really is.
In the suburb I grew up in, a lot of the restaurant workers spoke Spanish, so even at the sushi place the Japanese chef would speak Spanish to the staff, saying gracias could be no different than arigato or thank you lol
Would you really put the blame on piracy for that when there are conglomerates manipulating the entire market? I’m not doubting they exist, but can you name a small business streaming service that would be affected by pirate services? I have never heard of such a company. I’ve seen small streaming services utilized by libraries but they are on government contracts and tax funded as far as I know.
There was a thread this week about Biden’s achievements and it got at least 600 comments haha.
If it always has issues it makes sense you wouldn’t like it, where I use it there are rarely any errors and there are usually regular cashiers still if you don’t want to self checkout, personally I’d rather scan my groceries than have someone else do it. I do agree it would be much better if they had an RFID system like you mention though.
I have a lot of anxiety, sure I can just ‘get over it’ or ignore it and go to the actual cashier, but I love having the ability to scan things myself, it is also much quicker because I usually have less items than most. They still have the employee there, there are still other cashiers so I’ve never seen it get too hectic where I go.
Same, they must not have rolled it out to everyone, I have firefox/ublock origin on PC and android and have yet to see an ad on youtube, and the quality and speed of loading seem to be fine.
I doubt they would ever do this, but I wonder if they have some metric about the user’s likeliness of clicking ads, and prevent more ‘advertisable’ users from blocking the ads but let some keep blocking them because it wouldn’t make as much of a difference, or they would just leave youtube. If my adblock stopped working I would stop using youtube, without a doubt. I am allergic to ads.
It’s considered ‘left’ to support queer and trans rights, and there are a good number of people that seem to have a problem with that whether my queer self is political or not.
This is an A-Lister commie board, we have Ryan Gosling too!
Edit: whoops I thought this was a hexbear post but my point stands, less commie though
