I highly doubt that 3D printing of all things is making any meaningful contribution to the microplastics problem. Plastics are absolutely everywhere, so it feels weird to pin blame on a small group of enthusiasts just making silly shit at very low volumes.
I believe the characters are Kazuha (bottom) and Wanderer (top) from Genshin Impact.
It’s referencing Dungeon Meshi. Laios Touden gets very attached to his weird sword.

For those who are still out of the loop, the green-haired girl is Übel from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and the unamused elf is Marcille Donato from Delicious in Dungeon.
