Apothecary Diaries is one of the few shows that mastered “show, don’t tell”, which makes it so good.

To do so, the creator probably has a great deal of trust in the intelligence of their audience. Respect.

Also, the rear palace’s security is appalling.

The outer walls do seem to be like swiss cheese even when a certain strategist isn’t making big holes in them.

The VA did a good job when Jinshi did the obvious switching to his eunuch voice in this episode.

This made me notice Jinshi didn’t use his eunuch voice when he was talking to Lahan though. I wonder if that was his “business” voice when he worked in the outer palace (still as Jinshi) and not talking to court ladies.

I never realised before that Loulan’s servants looked so much like her. But I guess this confirms Shisui is indeed Loulan for those that didn’t think so yet. I don’t have high hopes for Shisui to make it out alive in the end… Not just kidnapping Maomao, but also the whole switcharoo thing. The hatred against the palace is entirely understandable though, given the previous emperor’s actions and how he was protected over it.

Thankfully Maomao’s treatment for Gokuyou has been effective though.
