Forget swiping your card - thanks to a banner year for biometric payments, with JPMorgan and Mastercard joining the fray, paying with your face could soon be your new reality.

Is it so hard to just pay using credit cards? Why do we need dystopian biometric nonsense feeding the data mines in order to pay for food? Paying for stuff is a solved problem. Fuck everything about this.

I used to say the same about cash but really, anything that makes my life easier I end up enjoying.

I whittled myself down from a fat wallet to one card on me and one in my car. I still sometimes forget it or lose it so I wouldn’t mind it being permanently attached to my face but don’t get me wrong, I really don’t need it either.

In terms of data mining, I don’t really see what more they can get? Maybe makeup habits for women or eye reflection to see who else is with you but that seems a bit intense. All the financial data, they already have if using a card.

Seriously though, boggles my mind that there isn’t more data protection relating to banking. It shouldn’t even be an issue, none of that data should be touched.

Paying with credentials that can’t easily be spoofed means a meteoric amount of money saved for payment processors from fraud due to insecure payment methods

I literally couldn’t login to IRS.gov this year because the facial recognition software powering login.gov kept failing. And I recently got a new driver’s license, renewed my Global Entry (whose facial recognition system does work), have a passport, etc.

I have no idea what picture of me the government or vendor running login.gov is trying to match me with but I’m pretty sure I didn’t change my face recently.

    That’s dystopian.

I propose Californians no longer be allowed speculative fiction. They keep turning warnings into reality

Wrinkles give you free shit now? 😲 I love the future!

But actually ma’am, I don’t like this wireless keyboard board and would like a refund. I don’t have a receipt. Look, it was an online purchase and I was home alone, I can show you the thing in my email! Oh you need biometric? Look I used my penis, could we, just skip this part? Okay fine, just give me a that towel over there. Click … here, here’s my penis in your app, happy?

I got an email from USAA yesterday excitedly telling me about their new voice ID feature. You can now contact them over the phone and manage your account with fewer security questions by having your voice analyzed. What could go wrong.
