A spokesperson for Cohen later released a statement, “We are expected to be good Americans and look the other way as Israel prevents food, water, and medicine from reaching the remaining people of Gaza. Israel is literally starving them to death… We will not look away. We will not be silenced. We will do everything we can to get our government to stop being complicit in starving little kids to death.”

Well said. And good on him for standing up.

Hell yeah. Someone with “fuck you” money saying, well, fuck you. I’m not saying we don’t all need to do our part in this of course. I just know that if I didn’t have to work as much as I do to try and get by I’d be even more up these people’s asses than I already am.

There is power and wealth and then there is power and wealth. I think it’s enough to say that there is no Globe spanning Ben and Jerry’s industrial complex. Though I wish there was. The world will be much better place if we made ice cream and not war

To be fair, Ben & Jerry’s is owned by Unilever. And if one of those leaders showed up it might have been different, but they’re mostly British and don’t care.

(For reference, there’s more than a 50% chance you have some of their products in your home, as they “serve” over 3bill people a day. With brands like Knorr, Jif, Hellman’s, Lipton, Axe, Q-Tips, Dove, Vaseline, and many, many more. They are the world largest ice cream manufacturer. If you look at your local brands, at least one probably has the “heartbrand” logo, indicating it’s owned by them. )

Ah, shit. My wife and I use Jif peanut butter and Knorr bouillon cubes in bed and I eat a Vaseline and Q-tip sandwich during my lunch break at least once a week. Can just one global conglomerate be ethical so we can enjoy life’s little pleasures?

I’ve actually had to increase my consumption of Unilever products recently because often the only alternative is American. For instance, I switched from Ivory soap (owned by Proctor & Gamble) to Dove even though Dove is more expensive.

It is good that same rules apply for everyone no matter their status. Of course there are some people where this does not apply, but it should be like that.

Hearing what they’re protesting, I’m glad someone of their station is willing to stand up to the Trump administration and Congress for what they, the protestor, feels passionate about.

We need more of this, people of all socio-economic stations, holding all three branches accountable.

Seeing that fuck jump like that makes my heart warm.

Personally, not sure why we are even helping Iseral anymore. I know we have contracts to assist, but they have already violated international law. That should void everything, and we should be out.

Now, does that help Gaza? Yes, but now you’re faced with helping them. Which I dont think should be all on the shoulders of the United States. It should be the UN and our regular aid to the UN helping them. If they block that aid, then so be it. We’ll just be in the same boat as every other country.

If the American people voted for isolation, then become that isolation. Help no one directly. It’s not going to happen because too much money comes into politics.

Israel is a test of the limits of oppression both technologically and legally. They are building the technology that will allow the wealthy and ruling classes to oppress the poor when things go bad, and developing the legal arguments for why that is okay.

International aid groups are trying to help people in Gaza but Israel keeps blocking, bombing and shooting them.

Also the US has legislation against boycotting Israel …

The US is still helping Israel because Israel is effectively the largest US military base in the middle east, and monitors and protects many US interests in the region: ie makes sure the oil, gas, minerals, and rare earth materials keep flowing and in addition the Suez canal and trade route keeps clear to ensure international trade and transfer of these materials continue without any interference - terrorists, local warlords, or even just populist leaders that want better deals for their populace.

In short, Israel assists as an enforcer for capitalist wealth extraction from the middle east to the rest of the world.

As former US army general and secretary of state (under Reagan) and long serving white house chief of staff (under Nixon and Ford) Alexander Haig famously said, “Israel is the largest American aircraft carrier in the world that cannot be sunk, does not carry even one American soldier, and is located in a critical region for American national security”.

So that’s the main reason little kids continue to get bombed and shot in Israel. The US is addicted to oil & middle east resources, and the capitalists don’t care what the human cost is as long as order is maintained.

Because empathy is a sin, and the longer situations like Gaza go on, the more people’s empathy will make them suffer and burn out and feel their empathy doesn’t do anything useful.
