Good. Hopefully this will piss enough people off and make then quit.

On the other hand, just tell your “favorite” politician what you think of him. But don’t say “You are an asshole”. That could have legal consequences. Say “I think you are an asshole” or “I believe you are an asshole” - they (at least at the moment) cannot sue you for what you think or believe.

Probably an unpopular opinion, and I’m talking very generally here not just about X, but I kind of think that blocking creates echo chambers and that it makes sense to replace that with muting. People have been circulating large block lists composed mainly of their opponents (not just in politics but also in things like stock trading where you can have very strong opinions around certain stocks), through which they ensure that they’ll get mostly favorable replies to their tweets.

Blocking people based on their opinions is stupid. I’ve had people block me for a mere disagreement, without any abuse or name-calling from either side. It’s bizarre and I don’t understand the logic of someone who would do that.

However, that doesn’t mean that blocking should be removed as an option. What if someone is sending you abuse, or spamming you, or threatening to doxx you? Yes, you can lock your account, but that’s a rather extreme thing to have to do just to stop one person from contacting you.

I agree that blocking in DMs should still stay an option, what I really meant is public feeds. But if you’re talking about replying to something you said in a public feed, I think it’s the moderation’s task to fight abuse there (yeah I know X is a bad example in this case) and even if you blocked someone, it’s kind of pointless because if he’s really obsessed with you then 1- he’ll easily know that you blocked him by looking at your account with an alt, and 2- he’ll create an alt solely to harass you.
