Fortunately I work in a small shop and am a domain admin. Using a combo of Powershell and ShutUp10, I cut out as much of the stupid bloat and spyware as I can. The OS still sucks, but it’s much more tolerable with that crap turned off.
One of these days I’m going to get off my lazy butt and create a custom Windows 11 installation ISO with the nonsense pre-removed.
(And yes, I also use Linux, and prefer it.)

IMO it’s worth the time and effort to learn the basics. You don’t need to be an elite level modeler because you’re not modeling for animation or games. I’ve had good luck with simple fixes and mods in Blender.
My experience is entirely with SLA, however, FDM might be a bit trickier.

Check out Textpad. You might like it. The only nuisance with it is the default config settings are a little oddball (things like keyboard shortcuts, etc). But it’s highly configurable so you can set it up the way you like and then it’s good. It has more features than Notepad, but it’s still pretty simple and can do cool things like search files / folders for strings, has regex support, etc. But the extras stay out of your way and it’s pretty clean and simple for “notepad-like” usage.
This is damned impressive.
I like being able to check how busy a place is, but not like this. Simple head count or an average wait time is good. Using web cams is creepy overkill. Typical tech bro invasive shit.

Making it opt-in is a much better way to offer this ridiculous “feature”. But I wager there will be future shenanigans. MS is very sneaky and passive-aggressive about pushing sketchy unwanted shit on its customers.
Yes, that is also a big problem. In general you should be very aware in online meetings / screen sharing to be very cautious and deliberate with what you show. That problem has burned a streamer or two. :) Having a boring vanilla “work machine” for that sort of thing is always a good idea. Windows Recall definitely makes this problem worse! You could be doing 100% legit professional ‘work stuff’ and it could still grab things that it shouldn’t (HIPAA and many other potentially sensitive bits of corporate data).
If you disable it, make sure to check on it regularly, as MS loves to turn things back on “for you” after Windows updates run. I’ve already seen some sysadmins saying they will run a scheduled task to make sure it stays dead.
The HIPAA concerns are very alarming. And I agree with the spirit if the article. However, I’m not sure the article is correct when it says Recall cannot be disabled. I’ve already seen other articles telling you how to turn it off. The fact that it’s opt-out and not opt-in is a huge issue, though.
