I installed it on Ubuntu server on my raspberry pi 4 and it took a couple months to fall over and become useless.
I’ve been running their OS since then and it has been absolutely rock solid. It’s been 5 or 6 years now, all I do is add more devices occasionally and update it when it occurs to me.
If you have a life and you don’t absolutely love tuning your OS for special purposes in ways that are already solved problems, the hass os image is the way to go.
It’s what they always should have done anyway. I’m not so entitled that I think I should get content delivered absolutely free, but I am entitled enough to sandbox and restrict how many discrete domains my browser windows will talk to.
Imagine doing an antitrust violation when you don’t even have the market clout for a payoff in the first place.

I want a phone that has an eink display but an ecosystem for apps. I want my battery to last weeks, I want my communications conduits to be dead simple, and I want to be able to run an OTP authenticator on it.
If the thing I’m expected to have becomes highly useful for the things I’m expected to have it for while also interrupting my bad habit tendencies, I think it would be a good fit for me.

Absolutely. I worked somewhere where we routinely had alarms go off due to botnets swarming us with weird (and obnoxious) massive download tactics (of publicly available user generated content, that is).
