That’s the first positive thing I’ve seen someone say about The Verge.
That being said, if America ever plunges into a civil war it would be the best time for them to cripple the US infrastructure and do anything they want to Taiwan and SEA while having the US consumed in an infighting.
I can understand your concerns, at work we can do BYOD for phones and the process for MDM on Android phones are much more complex and invasive simply due to the fact that you can install apps on Android via sideloading.
Just bouncing between Overwatch 2 and MW3 as currently I’m still burned out playing SP games since playing AC6 to NG++, AW2 on hard, miraculously managed to finish a durge honor mode run (this is what burned me out, too stressful playing CRPGs with only 1 save, with a durge run at that).
I’ve also found that Warzone 3 is surprisingly good so most of my old Warzone 1 squad are reinstalling the game and we started playing together again.
Wine or emulation? When I had to use Windows for work I used WSL to run my tooling and didn’t notice any performance degradation. Does it apply too vice versa?
Although I’m with you on the hardware side. Because I have an Nvidia card my Linux install has been relegated for personal projects only. I already have a workstation supplied by my employer for work.
I’m currently using Samsung Internet with content blockers. Firefox on my Android phone has micro stutters that are driving me crazy. The only browser that doesn’t have that weird Android scrolling micro stutters are Samsung Internet, weirdly. So I’ve been using it for years even on non Samsung phones.
This really grinds my gears especially when working with the junior devs. They are always preaching about this new hot library and tried to refactor the whole app based on this cool article written by some well known developer. When I asked about their reasoning behind the chance they’re only able to link the blogpost made saying that X is bad and Y is the way going forward. I asked them what situation where they actually cannot solve an issue using X in a project and whether they can prove that using Y is the panacea for all of our woes, they all go silent.
Afterwards I always tell them it’s fine to look for new ways to do things. But before you go to try to propose such a big change at least write some PoC demonstrating the strength of the new thing when they have some downtime.
That’s why I use Z Fold now. Small phone width when folded, big ass screen when you’re lounging and have the other hand free to use the phone. I can’t even use the regular slab phone now because I’m used to the narrow cover screen.
People say that the phone is thick when folded but I found out that it made the phone easier to hold due to its thickness. I’m also the kind of guy who uses a phone for the long term, my previous phone was a ROG Phone 2 that I used for four years. I decided to upgrade because most of my work now is done on my phone while I’m out and about and having a larger screen to review some documents has been a lifesaver for me.
Already a reality here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2iaMCmOrh4
Let’s hope he can get into a good car and set a record for the oldest age to win a title. Although it’s quite hard as the oldest title winner is Fangio for his fifth title when he was 46 years old.
No, just provide my email with lots of are you sure you want to delete your account?
prompts. But this happened on the day of the acquisition so our beloved poopy muskrat wasn’t able to sink his grubby little hands on Twitter yet.
I deleted my account as soon as the takeover got official. Fuck Elon. People still staying on Twitter are delusional.
I know, there are some artists who depend on their following on Twitter for exposure. But I think they can band together and pick a Mastodon instance to migrate to and direct their followers. That would be better than having your account suspended without reason or get doxxed because you submitted your government ID to Twitter and they got hacked.
I’m reposting my old comment regarding DLSS frame-gen
If it can help me maintain a more stable FPS that would be a boon. If I’m playing a game with unstable frame rates with a lot of stuttering I usually get a headache after one hour. So if frame gen can help my PC run games at a more stable frame rate, then I’m all for it. The first gen implementation of it may be shitty. But after a couple of generations it can be good.
Look at where DLSS is now, DLSS is objectively shit but since DLSS 2 in some cases it can improve image quality. I game on a 1080p 380hz screen, and when I’m playing games with upscaling like DLSS or FSR, I’ll run the game at 4k and then run the upscaler on performance mode which is basically rendering the game at 1080p. The results are much better than just running native 1080p.
That being said, having a more consistent frame rate will make your experience better. Not having an input lag difference won’t be a problem in single player games, as the difference will be under 100 ms anyway (F1 drivers have 200-300 ms reaction time) so it won’t make too much of a difference.
Yep, even before COVID in my old job we moved office that basically changed my commute from a 10 minute walk to a 1 hour drive thru a shitty downtown traffic and my mental health sank. Even though in my previous job it was similar. I was already so used to having only 20 minutes of my day taken for commute (and the ability to have lunch at home).
Having that changed to at least 2 hours a day (take into account more expenses due to using personal vehicle, more time taken due to looking for a parking spot, and no I didn’t use public transport because it’s shitty in my area and can add another hour to my commute).
Since going full remote at the start of COVID basically the first thing I ask to any recruiter contacting me is whether the role is remote or not. If yes the next question is whether the management have plans to go back to the office in the current or next fiscal year.
Even with it’s drawbacks, remote work has been a boon for me. I get to spend more time with my children, I get rewarded when I work efficiently because I can finish working faster. With Discord I can still keep building rapport with my coworkers by having game nights weekly.
Yep, he uses the clip that LMG released about interviewing their employees on how it’s like to work there.
ChatGPT has been helpful in being an interactive rubber duck. I used it to help myself breakdown the technical problems that I need to solve and it helps to cut down time taken to complete a difficult ticket that usually take a couple of days of work to a couple of hours.
Yes the planet got destroyed. But for a beautiful moment in time we created a lot of value for shareholders.
Sad, with the emergence of GPT they should’ve find a way to combine it with GPT to actually have a smart assistant.
Hot take, Michael Kirkbride carried TES lore. Even the interesting parts of Skyrim is based from his writing.
