01·23 days agoTo eliminate this cheat vector, we have made the decision to prevent access to the game for Linux users. This means that Apex Legends will be unplayable immediately for those running this operating system. Playing on handhelds, such as the Steam Deck, is still possible if the user opts to install Windows.
translates to them cutting off linux support so people will be forced to use approved operating systems like Windows which will require more hardware which means more money for those companies and more intrusive anti cheat software that gives users data away
way more than just about Windows and some games
this is about locking users into approved environments with no wiggle room just like on Tron
159·9 months agothe US thinks if it fixes a problem that all fifty states have but only fix it in a handful of states that it has solved the problem one hundred percent
meanwhile the citizens go “We have to start somewhere this is a great thing!” and the leaders never get criticized sometimes the opposite people vote them back in
then that is all you hear until the issues reach critical because everything was quarter assed at best
this is how abortion, cannabis, all kinds of insurances, education, food assistance, etcetera already are played in the US
and at that point the citizens and the states are to blame for why things suck so hard
“well they should have voted better over there it is their faults that state sucks!”
which drives us further from solutions
our minimum wage is $7.25, no universal health care, the cops are militarized and keeping citizens in their proper places, food/ housing costs are more than our pay, transportation costs have skyrocketed, the postal service needs attention, we have fifty states not working together
but we showed that China TikTok what for BY GOD! they ain’t gonna spy on us
own a computer shop
patrons love windows, love signing up for a windows account, always clicks share my data, and buys the hell out of HP products
blame the lack of good education at least here in the US
what are the other options
firefox is still not there in terms of language support and translating like chrome has etcetera
not bashing firefox or chrome honestly asking what else is there?
epiphany browser is even further behind
our computer shop just started a $35 out the door 120gb ssd special with arch linux on gnome preinstalled that sells like hotcakes most of the machines coming in are windows 8 or older hardware so perfect match
most are happy without microsoft and libreoffice so far has been enough with aur repositories filling in what else is needed
windows could never compete with the hardware requirements
but that would make a less malleable population that is harder to contain and control
