Apart from Flight Simulator 2020 and DCS, I absolutely love games like Euro Truk Simulator 2 and Snowrunner. I put ungodly amounts of hours into those. Especially ETS 2 is incredibly relaxing. No pressure, just a lovely drive. It’s definitely not for everyone though.
Guess I should stock up while I can huh?
I’ve been a RPI fan since the beginning and have used their boards for all sorts of projects and tinkering. But it’s hard not to feel like it’s losing sight of what made it attractive in the first place: low power and low priced computing. It had its charm in buying a Pi Zero and just chucking emulators on it and handing them out to folks who might want to have a go.
But with the more expensive, more powerful hardware you just can’t really use them for things like that anymore. Just too expensive and too much oomph for the use case.
We’ll see if the company finds its way. But this usually isn’t a good sign…
When you can pack the peak amount of players into a decent sized ballroom, that’s never a good sign for your game’s future.
At this point they’re probably better off just refunding buyers and shuttering the game entirely. Doesn’t feel like this is a salvageable situation.
Well duh. Even when they were introduced, touchscreens in cars got a lot of pushback. I’d much rather flip a switch or turn a knob for things I do daily, rather than futz three levels deep in a car maker’s software. They put things in there that really should be simple pushbuttons.
Honestly, this sort of thing is what’s killing any sort of enjoyment and progress of these platforms. Between the INCREDIBLY harsh censorship that they apply and injecting their own spin on things like this, it’s nigh on impossible to get a good result these days.
I want the tool to just do its fucking job. And if I specifically ask for a thing, just give me that. I don’t mind it injecting a bit of diversity in say, a crowd scene - but it’s also doing it in places where it’s simply not appropriate and not what I asked for.
It’s even more annoying that you can’t even PAY to get rid of these restrictions and filters. I’d gladly pay to use one if it didn’t censor any prompt to death…

Guy looked like older Snake from Metal Gear Solid, but clearly wasn’t cosplaying or anything like that. I assume most people with one eye just get a fake one here. If only to avoid all the pirate jokes that he probably gets.
As an 41 year old, I’ve actually used rotary phones and classic handsets when I was younger. And damn do I miss them. There was a distinct enjoyment in being able to properly slam down a phone when you wanted to make a point. Same thing with flip phones: you KNEW when someone hung up in a huff. Can’t quite get that point across on a smartphone.
I also miss being able to properly shoulder a handset to keep your hands free.
Ha, these fucking assholes. Glad to see they got forced to honor it. That’s what you get for jumping on bad tech in order to save a few bucks.
Hope other companies face the same liability if they rely on AI chatbots.
You should always assume any camera to be hostile, unless you have full and complete control over all related software and connections.
Basically, the people who supplied the device will always have more control over it than you do. And big tech just looooves to abuse that and/or cave in to pressure from governments and police agencies.

I don’t think anyone minds artistic nude or even full on porn, assuming there’s reasonable legal protections to keep underage kids away.
My particular situation was: I bought some knife scales from a guy in Australia. I’m in the Netherlands. Etsy collects EU sales tax - 12 euros in this case. Now, Etsy is supposed to send that money to our customs people and the shipper puts a specific code on it to let them know that the taxes have been paid in advance.
Now, for whatever reason, Dutch customs taxed me AGAIN when the package arrived. Even though the seller had put the correct code on there and even highlighted it with a marker. So as far as I can tell, it wasn’t their fault that I got taxed twice.
But: Etsy specifically tells you to take things up with the seller first when there’s issues. And the seller refunded me the second tax payment (13 euros and change). Which was of course very nice of them. But I wasn’t about to take that double taxation lying down either. I’m very much in the ‘import taxes are theft and extortion’ camp, so I sure as shit wasn’t about to pay twice.
Whether he refunded it to avoid a bad review, I don’t know. But the whole thing annoyed me so much in general, I’ve stopped buying things on Etsy. God forbid I run into that issue if I ever buy anything actually expensive on there.
This is one of those sites I have a love-hate relationship with. It used to be much better when it started, with actual people selling actual homemade items.
These days, there’s a lot of dropshipping shit on there, sold for way higher prices. There’s also people who run their shop like a full on commercial business. All of this means that it’s harder to find the actual, honestly handmade stuff by individual users.
I’m also not a fan of the current tax hassle they’ve got going where they collect European sales tax in advance. It was a headache when I ordered a thing and got taxed twice (refunded by seller, thankfully).
I use it, I like it and it works with zero issues. It also easily works with my Google Home speaker. So of course it gets shut down. Because obviously. Sigh.
That said, Pocket Casts on iOS is also quite decent.
Back in the ‘90’s, they had every port you could imagine, and some STILL felt the need to use a docking station. You really can’t please everyone. I actually like the streamlined setup more these days. Because I’d rather have ports I actually use and that are fairly standardised, as opposed to a bunch of others that are of no use.
I never used most of the ports on my 90’s laptops. Never used a parallel port, PS2, never used the PCMCIA card slot, etc.
All I really need is a full sized HDMI, a few USB-C’s and one or two A’s for convenience.
