While I have been reading through this topic, I have been feeling worried since I was thinking about using Cloudflare to protect a site of mine for some time. This is because I found out from somewhere that they have protection against AI LLMs scraping page data from websites, which is what I’m mainly worried about since there are things and stories that I put a lot of thought and work into. And finding out about Cloudflare shutting someone else down here over what sounds like the level of traffic has me feeling I might not be able to use them and not sure what other options there are.
This seems like it could be the work of someone who doesn’t want their webpage data being scraped and stolen by AI LLMs, that are using archive.org as some kind of method for bypassing paywalls.
You might want to check our React OS.
At least this is not “Google Is Paying Lemmy $60 Million for Fucksmith to Tell Its Lemmings to Eat Glue” otherwise I would be wondering why Lemmy Admins are excepting huge wads of cash from tech giants.
And now probably can’t wait until someone accuses Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Twiiter/X, Reddit, etc., of similar anti-trust monopoly practices and give the fediverse the appearance of the only option to switch to.
Last time I heard a line like that is by Dark Helmet in Space Balls.
I have LIbreWolf with uBlock Origin and NoScript (and Redirector I can turn on to redirect me from watching videos on YouTube.com to YewTu.be on a moments notice of something funky going on with YouTube), and so far, I have not noticed any ads or anything for a long time. I’m probably at the point of beginning to wonder what a YouTube Ad is.
I’m happy that I’m already using LibreWolf.
