I’m hoping those salt batteries pan out.
I’m hoping those salt batteries pan out.
This would fix a boatload of issues and break down Verizon/Comcast into service vs infrastructure companies.
It will never happen.
Both companies would put forth a staggering amount of money into lobbying to kill this on top of all the politicians they already “donated” to.
It’s sickening.
This is me now… I’ll finally be able to enjoy gaming again once I die.
Roku would just start selling the televisions well below cost or even free since they make WAY more money from ADs.
I really hate what they’ve done with the product.
But due to the low price point VR has taken off and loads of parents got it for thier kids. That means more Devs have made games and more competition making headsets.
Mine is about 7 years old. 2 years ago the compressor died on it. It was a new custom LG design. The part normally lasts 10 years.
I was out of warranty but LG still fixed it apparently due to a class action lawsuit forcing them to cover the compressor specifically due to all the failures.
Take what you will from that.

Yeah my issue is I have fire sticks and I want to transition away from it. Instead of purchasing another mainstream device I was hoping there would a lemmy approved alternative.
I think the correct way to jump is to flip your main so you’re disconnected. I’m probably talking out of my ass tho.
I don’t own a generator nor have the need. Just basing this on what I’ve seen in the wild.
I’ve seen these used in low income homes where the basement electricity is paid by the landlord for coin operated washers. Then someone gets their electricity cut (lack of payment) so they use these cables to jump the outlets and steal electricity from the landlord.
The dude just went to a hardware store and bought an extension cable and a replacement plug head. Snipped the female end and added the male in like 5 minutes.
The only practical usage of those things is jumping a generator to a house during a blackout.
Edit: yes please bring on the down votes for me sharing a story about how the poor use these scary cables. Real nice.
Thanks for the dark mode link!!
I was also going to mention draw.io
Websites now take Google pay.
Restaurants and startups are using toast and squarespace.
People are using cash app and venmo.
There are a lot more alternatives to PayPal than 10 years ago.
I second tinkercad for super basic parts. Need to print a knob for a radio that isn’t on thing-verse? 20min in tinkercad.
For blender basic things to learn could be plugging a hole in a part and adding a smaller or bigger one to match the screws you have on hand.
Or cutting a part in half to extend it, fill in the gap.
