My Ford PHEV does regenerative braking through the brake pedal. The brake pads only engage if you press hard enough that the braking demand is higher than the slowing caused by regenerative braking. It will show you how well you’re doing with a gauge to show how much of your regen-braking force you’re using, and if it never engages the brake pads until you’re already stopped (for the brake hold function) it tells you 100% of the braking energy went into the battery. Pretty cool.
We could also just have more wars so young men get killed off in swathes every decade or so.

I don’t own a Mac Mini, and never will. I’m not trying to defend Apple.
But I’ll use my work laptop as an example. I have external monitors, so I never open the damn thing except on the rare occasions I need to use the power button. This happens infrequently enough that it gives me a pretty good notion of how often people need the actual power button on a modern computer.
If the button can be reached without turning over the device or even picking it up, as it sure appears, what’s the problem? Other than that it’s an Apple device and people love to hate on Apple devices.
How often do you need to actually turn it on? Won’t it sleep? Pretty much should only need to turn it on after moving the thing. You can restart from with in the OS if you need to.
The government does actually censor broadcast television and radio. I can’t remember why they’re allowed to.
That’s a shame. I love my PHEV because it’s an EV for driving around the city, but I can still use gas stations on road trips. I plug it in everywhere I can.

Those updates are easy when you have to release a system update to update the safari browser. Hell, you could call it a major security fix and fix some security issue on an old phone and every fanboy would be like “OMG iPhone 3s got an update.🤤” whereas Google can just ship browser fixes over the app store.
Except that’s not what Apple means when they say they’ll update phones for five years. Security fixes aren’t the same as full iOS versions.
iOS 17, which came out September 2023, is available for the iPhone XR and XS, which came out in September of 2018. That’s a full OS update with all the non-hardware-based bells and whistles.
Security patches may very well release for older phones, but not full OS updates. Earlier this year they dropped a security patch for the iPhone 6S, a phone from 2015.
I may be wrong then. There are a bunch of sensors above the windshield behind the rearview mirror, it could be that LiDAR isn’t one of them.
The LiDAR you have on your vacuum isn’t going to cut it as a safety relevant component onboard your car. Automotive-grade LiDAR are on another price range. Development for such sensors is quoted separately from the part price, and it costs millions of $.
Obviously, but my Ford Escape PHEV also has LiDAR and, despite being the highest trim level, cost FAR less than a Tesla. It doesn’t do FSD, obviously, but it still has LiDAR. And radar. And will do level 2 self driving enough that if I’m driving in traffic I’m more managing the car than driving it.
There is zero good excuse for not including LiDAR in Teslas.

And also could very well have survived the crash that killed him had he been wearing the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device that was available, but not mandatory, at the time. He called it “that damn noose” and claimed the tethers would more likely hang him than save him in the event of a crash. One of the greatest protective devices in motorsport since the helmet and the seatbelt and he eschewed it and suffered the consequences.
